Competitor analysis

Analyze your competitive landscape with AI using our 4-step workflow. Discover competitors, understand your differentiation, and generate investor-ready competition slides.

The 4-step workflow

The competitor analysis tool guides you through a structured process to understand your market position and generate a strong competition slide.

1. Context

Define your company and differentiators

2. Research

AI discovers your competitors

3. Review

Edit and refine competitor list

4. Sync

Generate and sync to your pitch

Step 1: Context

Start by providing context about your company. This helps AI understand your market position and find relevant competitors.

What to provide:

  • Company name: Your company or product name
  • Industry: The market you operate in
  • Product description: What you do and the value you provide
  • Target customer: Who you serve (e.g., mid-market B2B SaaS companies)
  • Pricing tier: Enterprise, mid-market, SMB, or consumer
  • Geographic focus: Where you operate (e.g., North America, Global)
  • Key differentiators: What makes you different (required)

Tip: Use the "Extract from pitch" button to automatically populate fields from your existing pitch content.

Step 2: Research

Based on your context, AI discovers and categorizes competitors. Each competitor is analyzed for relevance and differentiation.

Competitor categories:

Direct competitors

Companies solving the same problem the same way. Your feature-for-feature competitors.

Indirect competitors

Different solutions to the same problem. Alternative approaches customers might consider.

Step 3: Review

Refine your competitor list. Edit details, add competitors you know, and remove irrelevant ones.

Edit competitors

Update names, summaries, categories, and differentiation messaging for each competitor.

Add manually

Know a competitor AI missed? Add them manually with their details.

Best practice: Focus on 3-5 key competitors for your pitch. You can research many, but only include the most relevant ones in your deck.

Step 4: Sync

Generate your competition slide content and sync it directly to your pitch deck.

What you get:

  • Positioning statement: A clear articulation of your market position
  • Feature matrix: Side-by-side comparison of capabilities
  • Why we win: Key reasons you beat the competition
  • Slide content: Ready-to-use text for your competition slide

Feature matrix

Visual comparison showing where you lead. Great for your deck or investor conversations.

Sync to pitch

One click syncs your analysis to your pitch's competition section.

Competitive analysis tips

  • Be specific with differentiators: "Sub-100ms latency" beats "fast performance"
  • Include more than you show: Research broadly, but only include 3-5 relevant competitors in your pitch
  • Be honest about gaps: Investors know you are not better at everything. Own your trade-offs
  • Update regularly: Markets change. Revisit your analysis quarterly
  • Prepare for questions: Investors will ask about competitors. Know the landscape deeply

Remember: Your competition slide should not bash competitors. Show you understand the landscape and have a clear, defensible position.
