Solution slide in a pitch deck

Show what you are building and why it is the right approach.

Last updated: 2025-01-07

What this slide must prove

This slide must convince investors that your approach actually solves the problem you just described.

  • Direct connection to the problem
  • Clear mechanism of how it works
  • Why this approach wins over alternatives
  • Credible path to building it

A solution slide that does not connect to the problem slide raises red flags.

What investors look for

Criteria used in real pitch reviews:

1

Clear mechanism

How does it actually work? Can you explain it simply?

2

Problem connection

Does this directly address the pain you described?

3

Differentiation

Why is this better than what exists today?

4

Feasibility

Can this team actually build this? Is it technically possible?

Investors want to see that you have thought through the approach, not just the outcome.

Strong vs weak signals

Strong signal

"We automate inventory reconciliation by connecting directly to ERP systems and warehouse sensors. Real-time sync eliminates the 8-hour weekly manual process. Customers see results in week one, not month six."

  • Specific mechanism
  • Connects to problem
  • Clear value proposition
Weak signal

"Our AI-powered platform leverages machine learning to optimize business processes and drive operational excellence."

  • Buzzword heavy
  • No clear mechanism
  • Could be anything

Common failure patterns

  • Buzzword soup: AI, blockchain, ML without explaining what they do.
  • Feature list: Describing capabilities instead of outcomes.
  • Disconnected from problem: Solution does not obviously fix the pain described.

Quality criteria

  • Show, do not tell: Demo or screenshot beats description.
  • One core insight: What is the key innovation or approach?
  • Obvious connection: Solution should feel inevitable given the problem.

Target reaction: "This makes sense as a solution to that problem."
