Stop reading your pitch through a generic VC lens

Generic AI feedback tells you whether your deck is well-formed. The per-investor lens tells you whether this specific firm will meet you. Built it. Here's how it works.

Stop reading your pitch through a generic VC lens

The standard "AI feedback on your pitch deck" tool gives you the same notes a textbook would. Your problem slide is too vague. Your traction needs sharper numbers. Your team slide should highlight relevant experience.

That's not feedback. That's a checklist.

The thing that actually matters when you're raising (the thing that determines whether a specific investor wants to take the meeting) isn't whether your deck passes a generic checklist. It's how that specific firm will read it. What they're hunting for this quarter. What they just funded that overlaps with what you're building. Which partner is the right entry point. Whether they're cold-friendly or warm-only.

I built a tool that does this. It's live now.

What it does

You pick an investor in the database. You select your pitch. You click "Run pitch through {firm}'s lens."

The tool pulls everything we know about that firm: their stated thesis, their inferred thesis from recent deals, the partners actively writing checks, the deals they closed in the last 90 days, their outreach policy (cold OK, warm only, application form, ghosting culture), and reads your pitch through that specific frame.

It returns four sections:

Resonance. What about your pitch will land for this firm specifically. Not "your traction is strong": actual ties to their thesis or their last three deals. "Sequoia just led a $4M round in [company X] solving the same wedge for retail. Your distribution thesis directly extends theirs."

Pushback. The 1 to 3 specific objections this firm will raise. Tied to patterns in their portfolio. "Atomico passed on three pre-seed B2B SaaS deals in the last 6 months citing 'no enterprise GTM signal.' Your pitch leads with self-serve onboarding. Reframe."

Angle. The single sharpest framing the founder should lead with for this firm. One paragraph. Concrete. Not "highlight your traction": actual words you should use.

Outreach. Concrete next step given the firm's outreach policy and partner roster. Names a specific partner if the focus areas suggest a fit. "Cold OK. Email Sarah Tavel: her recent posts on [topic Y] match your wedge. Use the angle above as the first paragraph."

Why this beats generic feedback

Generic AI feedback tells you whether your deck is well-formed. The per-investor lens tells you whether this specific shot will connect.

That's the actual question when you're raising. You don't have 1,672 generic VCs reading your deck. You have 30-50 specific investors you're trying to land meetings with, and each one has a different frame. Mass-pasting your deck and hoping ChatGPT helps doesn't reflect how investors actually decide.

The two tools answer different questions:

Generic AI feedbackPer-investor lens
Is my deck well-formed?Will this firm meet me?
Pattern-matches against textbooksPattern-matches against this firm's recent behavior
Same answer for every founderDifferent answer for every founder × investor pair
Useful before you have a deckUseful before you have a meeting

If you're heads-down writing your first deck, generic feedback is fine. If you're a week away from outbound to 30 investors, generic feedback is noise.

What it costs to run

Running the lens against a specific investor calls Claude with about 1,500 tokens of context (your pitch + that firm's enrichment data). It takes ~10 seconds and produces a 4-section read you can save, share, and regenerate when your pitch evolves. Available on Founder tier.

You don't need to run it against every investor. Run it against the 5 to 10 you're seriously targeting. Different lenses produce different angles. The patterns that show up across multiple firms tell you what's actually structural about your pitch.

How to find it

In the investor database, open any investor's drawer with a pitch selected at the top of the page. The "Run {pitch} through {firm}'s lens" card is right under the investor's profile. Click "Generate." Wait 10 seconds. Read.

If you've never opened a specific firm's profile and thought "what would they actually say about this," do it now. The output is more useful than another round of self-editing.
